Please don't be fooled by other schools if you are wanting Phlebotomy!!
Liberty Career College staff has literally met and talked with countless students over the last 11 years who enrolled or inquired at other local vocational schools for Medical Assisting with the intention that they would really like Phlebotomy. The overall census is that they are FRUSTRATED as ever when they get into the program they enrolled in, possibly most or all the way through it, to find out they CANNOT apply to the state for their license with what they learned at the school that they went to. By then they are buried in student loan debt and still have to take the required program that the Department of Public Health / Laboratory Field Services for the State of California requires if they want to apply for their license.
We've asked so many applicants/students, "What did you ask when you enrolled at the school?" The answer that we have heard so many times is that they asked if they were going to get Phlebotomy? We'd like to inform the public that this is the INCORRECT question to ask. Please ask, "Does this program lead me to be able to apply for my CPT-I license?" Better yet, don't take our word for it.....look it up on the state website - www.ca.gov and in the search engine type in - approved phlebotomy programs. The first item that pops up is more than likely going to be an Excel spreadsheet that shows all of the schools in CA that are approved to offer the Phlebotomy program. LIBERTY CAREER COLLEGE IS ON THERE!!! There are only 2 places in Kern County approved by the state to offer this approved program and Liberty Career College is the one that has the most contracts with the large hospitals in Kern County!!! We have externship site affiliations that prove how reputable we are!!
We are faced with students/applicants who feel cheated and ask - how can they do this?? Simply the right question wasn't asked at the time of enrollment. Does this education lead me to be able to apply for my phlebotomy license with what I learn here?? The answer to that at Liberty Career College is - YES! Upon successful completion of the Basic and Advanced Didactic (classroom) instruction, passing of the national certification exam, and a minimum of 40 hours of clinical externship you will be eligible to apply for your CPT-I license with LFS. (Please see a copy of Carlos Salinas' license on the front page of our website in the photos.)
We are all the time asked, "How can you offer a Medical Assisting Back Office Program for less time that other local schools?" Other schools are desperate for your enrollment!! At Liberty Career College we'd like to see all of our graduates continue on their education journey whether it's to be an RN, PA, X-Ray Tech, MD, CLS....etc. Why take classes like History, Math, English, Sociology type instruction at a vocational school level where it often times does not transfer to a major university when you want to continue on your education path. Why get bogged down in student loan debt for those classes? Why have to repeat those classes when you want to go for higher education?? At Liberty Career College we would prefer that students go to our local junior college's such as BC, Taft College, or Cerro Coso College to get those pre-requisites done and come to us to get the vocational training you need to get into a career faster and for FAR LESS $$$. Liberty Career College does not believe in spending thousands and thousands for vocational training.....how does this help the consumer? How does it help the taxpayers who are shelling out thousands and thousands for vocational education? To get buried in debt for years makes it difficult to take out more loans when you want to return to school to pursue a higher education. It comes down to this.....the salary you will possibly get paid will not justify spending thousands and thousands of dollars. Liberty Career College will celebrate it's 12 Year Anniversary on August 1, 2018!! There is no way that we could possibly stay in business, with little to no advertising, if we weren't doing something right. Our students are working at doctors offices, urgent cares, health clinics, and hospitals not only in Kern County but in many other states now as well. Our graduates are at nearly EVERY SINGLE hospital in Kern County right now (we say nearly because there is one very small one that we don't know about). We can offer our program for a FAR LESS rate because we don't pay for all the advertising (we've all seen the commercials in the middle of the day at some point or another....usually during the programs where people are arguing and throwing chairs around the stage). We don't keep you for months giving you the classes that you can better get elsewhere - where it will be transferable. Why get an AA degree in Medical Assisting??? Employers DO NOT require an AA degree and our students will still get paid the same amount you would if you got that. It just doesn't make sense. Why not keep pursuing an AA degree at one of our local colleges as stated above for chemistry, biology, or to be an RN? You will save tons!! While pursuing that degree we can help provide you the job training that you need to begin gaining experience in the field of your dreams! We believe that students who are serious about their educational outcomes and have clear goals as to where they want to go or have done their homework to find out what is truly best for them and their family will get the best outcomes overall. We'd like to have students who WANT to be at school, professional, dedicated, and wanting to become a positive team player in the medical community! We are passionate about what we do at Liberty Career College!!
